Is your personality a trauma or a blessing?
What was the moment you realized you wanted to pursue music? How did your journey start and what keeps you going?
When I was a kid I used to play football, my dream was to become a football player but I clearly haven’t. I remember listening to loads of music at the time – before and after training , on the way to play a match or after, I mean it was something that I needed. Music helped me to keep my dream alive. At the age of 15 I quit, I wasn’t feeling stimulated anymore but music was still there, always, and I decided to really make it part of me and I decided to buy a guitar and make my own music. Today I still feel the same way as 14 years ago, I feel stimulated , I feel safe when I write. It’s my cure, I need it.
What are your favorite memories of life in Italy? What are the worst?
So many favourite memories: family and friends are part of the best ones, my childhood and adolescence were amazing. I am what I am thanks to them. Worst memories are related to my fight with depression. It’s a demon I have got to deal with.
How did moving to London influence and change you personally?
London helped me grow as a person. I was way more naive before moving here. I don’t feel my personality has changed whatsoever, I feel somehow improved.
What is the enemy of creativity and how do you fight it?
Depression and anxiety are my worst enemies. They can destroy entirely my creativity but at the same time they can be the best trigger to write a song.
What is the best or most memorable gig you’ve ever performed? Could you describe it?
I have great memories of many shows I played through the past years so it’s really hard to tell. I can say though that last tour we did together with our friends The KVB was fantastic.
What is beauty to you and how do you integrate it into your work?
Beauty is something very subjective and personal. I can find beauty in many things. My favourite is the sky.
You’ve mentioned how since childhood you were interested in the cosmos, what are some of the things about the galaxy that fascinate you the most?
I would say the mystery behind it. I feel so small and insignificant when I think about the universe but I feel very lucky to be part of it.
What other things interest you outside of music?
I am a massive Serie A (Italian football league) football fan. I love cinema and I love to travel.
What is something you think everyone should do at least once in their lives?
Go visit Italy, any part of it. It’s pure magic.
Do you think it’s ok to be an asshole sometimes?
If you are an asshole to me, I will be an asshole to you twice. So yes.
What have you learned through M!R!M?
I learnt that making music is my favourite thing in this world but making a living out of it is hell.
Things you can’t unthink (things that are constantly on your mind).
Probably my family.
What do you think really matters at the end of life?
What matters is to leave the best of us to the others.
If you were a part of the SpaceX Mars Colony plan, what thing would you miss the most about Earth?
Most likely pizza.
